Flange, Bolt, Gasket & Torque Calculator
Quick engineering tools for reference bolt torque, gasket selection, flange dimensions, bolting details, PCD, stud length and pressure-boundary joint checks.
1. Quick Bolt Torque Calculator
Select the bolt size, grade, application and bolt condition. The calculator estimates a reference preload and torque using standard metric tensile-stress areas and clearly stated assumptions.
2. Advanced Torque Calculator
Open Advanced Calculator
3. Gasket Selection & Compression Checker
Select the service and flange conditions for a preliminary gasket candidate, then optionally check average gasket compression.
Check Gasket Compression
4. Flange Dimension, Bolting & Stud Length Lookup
Select EN sizes up to DN1200, ASME B16.5 through NPS 24, or ASME B16.47 Series A/B through NPS 60. Verified dimensions are displayed only where a reference record is loaded; the tool will never extrapolate missing standard dimensions. For valve/equipment connections, final stud length must follow the manufacturer drawing.

5. Quick Engineering Reference
| Reference | Typical Use on This Page |
|---|---|
| ASME PCC-1 | Pressure-boundary bolted flange joint assembly practices and joint-integrity guidance. |
| ASME B16.5 | Common pipe flanges and flanged fittings. |
| ASME B16.47 | Large-diameter steel flanges. |
| ASTM A193 / A194 | Common stud-bolt and nut material specifications for pressure joints. |
| ISO 898-1 | Mechanical properties/property classes for ISO metric fasteners. |
| EN 1092-1 | European circular steel flange system. |
6. Simple Flange Joint Checklist
Before Tightening
Confirm flange faces, gasket, studs/nuts, alignment, lubricant and approved tightening procedure.
During Tightening
Use the approved cross/star sequence and staged passes with calibrated tooling where required.
Equipment Connections
For valves, pumps, heat exchangers and equipment nozzles, verify manufacturer flange dimensions and stud length before installation.
Final Verification
Inspect the completed joint and record final tightening values where required before pressure testing/service.
Common Questions
Can torque be calculated from bolt diameter and grade?
A reference value can be estimated when thread geometry, material strength, target preload and friction assumptions are defined. It is not automatically the approved field torque for a flange or valve.
Can the calculator select the final gasket?
It can suggest a preliminary candidate based on service, temperature, pressure and facing, but final selection must verify the manufacturer's pressure-temperature rating, chemical compatibility and project specification.
Can flange lookup determine stud length for a valve?
Only if the mating valve/equipment flange thickness is known. Otherwise the page will show the flange bolting details and instruct the user to refer to the manufacturer drawing/manual for final stud length.
Are PN16 and Class 150 equivalent?
No. They belong to different standards/rating systems and should not be treated as directly interchangeable.
